Over the past few years I have gathered and inherited boxes of images and videos from various relatives. Family history has always been fascinating to me but preserving the images and videos in those boxes has always been a little overwhelming. When I came across Legacybox and saw that they had over ten years of experience I was thrilled that I could have them help me digitize and create a backup copy of my family’s history.
To get started Legacybox will send you a box that has three crush proof boxes, a welcome guide and reference card, a pre-paid Fedex shipping label and packing material. After you have packed your box and sent it to Legacybox, you will receive personalized updates informing you of the entire process.
You can fill your box with almost any format of film or video (with or without sound) including VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8, Video 8, MiniDV, Betamax, MicroMV, Super 8, 16mm, audio cassettes, compact tapes, reel-to-reel, images up to 8.5 x 11 inches, 35mm negatives, 35mm slides, and more. They can preserve everything in your collection!
Once they are done digitizing your images and films, you will receive the box back with your original items and their digital versions on CD and DVDs. Video files are saved as MPEG-4 (MP4) and photos are saved as JPEG files so that they can be viewed on any computer. In addition to the discs, you will also receive a digital copy of all of your items so that you may easily backup those files on your computer or online and share them with friends and family.
Orders with regular processing take 3-4 weeks to process depending on their current volume. Everything is processed by hand in order to make sure everything is done with the highest quality. There are no additional fees for shipping – roundtrip shipping is included in the price of the Legacybox.
The all-in-one convenience of Legacybox is a no-brainer for me. I can’t wait to start preserving my own family’s history. Starting at $75
