Studio backdrops for photographers

backdrops for photographers

Whether you have an in-home studio or a commercial space, a variety of backdrops are a must have. I love having the ability to instantly change the look of my images just by changing the backdrop. Whether you have a simple style or like something more dramatic or patterned, these favorite backdrop vendors have something for everyone.

1. Rock The Drops

I love the modern designs at Rock The Drops. They offer a high-quality original poly material that is glare-free for all of their backdrops. Rock The Drops also has an amazing line of floor drops called Luxe Floors. The material is similar to a mouse pad material but much more durable. It is meant for foot traffic and able to be spot cleaned. With a great variety and even a line of ‘For the Boys!’ designs, I think you will love what you find! Starting at $85

2. LemonDrop Stop Photography Backdrops

LemonDrop is known for their glare-free drops, great customer service, and fresh designs. They have a huge variety of drops and I love that they offer ‘double wide’ designs. The ‘double wide’ designs are a collection of designs that are two backdrops that line up seamlessly when put next to each other. Having 120 inches instead of 60 inches makes a huge difference, especially when photographing families or small children that like to move around a lot. They offer three choices of materials – polypro, vinyl, and canvas. Starting at $50

3. Ink and Elm

Ink and Elm also has a great variety of backdrops and I love how all of their drops are water resistant. They also offer some fantastic hanging options for an additional cost. I have always just used clamps for my backdrops, but you can order your drops with grommets or with a pole pocket. Ink and Elm uses durable, tear resistant vinyl and they have many sizes to choose from. Starting at $19.95

  1. Would like to say that I recently got some backdrops from Ink and Elm and they were total garbage. The printer that prints on the vinyl had run out of ink towards the end of the roll and it was showing all dots instead of the texture they were supposed to print. Also, when I ordered some larger backdrops recently the image they had used to print was not high resolution enough and the pattern was all blurry. Total waste of $350.
