However, I noticed your article was missing an important piece of information that all the other articles written on this topic have displayed up front instead of resorting to the “view source” feature to find: Technology moves at the speed of cyber, and I don’t read anything involving an expensive technology purchase that is more than 3-5 years old at most. Recommend placing the date of your articles at the top instead of buried in paragraph 3 or not providing the publication date at all. Thanks!

It’s a great article. Though, my perspective is to breakdown the entire backup workflow & highlight the importance of the different type of backup options in each one of them.

After analysing 50+ blogs and Reddit threads where professionals have solved this problem to an extent, I created a summary in a post:

Here are the four stages, I have divided the backup workflow:

1. Getting your backup and storage tools ready before the photoshoot.

2. Backup photos during the photoshoot

3. Backup photos immediately after the shoot

4. Final storage/photo backup plan to carefully tuck away your photos for future use.

Each of them is a different strategy & is very important to understand.

I have lost some data in the past. It was frustrating, but thankfully not too disastrous. I have a better system in place now, but it still could be improved. However with the amount of data I have, cost is the barrier.

The other thing not everyone considers is that it is not always hardware error that means you lose data, it can be and often is user error. You delete something you think you have backed up and you didn’t. That was what happened to me.

And another EHD for Data files. I minimize storing data on my Internal Drive.

At the present time, I am combining all files on the same EHD, including my backups. Should I change it now using different drives? I currently have connected 1-Primary EHD, 2-Time Machine EHD, 3- Backup EHD,4-Lightroom Catalog Backup. I am using all the USB ports.

If I was going to use another EHD to store photo I would need to connect one of the EHD to a docking station, which it would make an impact on the speed of the EHD connected to a docking station.

Any suggestions on how to get to an image in LR when LR says “The fils could not be found” ?
I know it’s a catalogue problem be that doesn’t help in being able to work on the image
